| Abstrakt | Project Description:
- The main aim of the research activities is to create a comparative policy analysis of the educational rights of refugees during the asylum process in order to use the advantage of the Austrian legislation and practices to inform the decision-makers at various levels about the potential application in the Macedonian legal and political system.
- The expertise in law, educational policy, political science of the researchers facilitates exchange of knowledge and practice regarding educational rights of refugees, where the advanced Austrian experience can be applied for creating policy proposals for two key intervention areas connected to refugee education such as: education and labor and social policy.
- Particular focus is placed on international policies regarding refugee education, bilateral practices, access to school education and available extra-curricular activities, considered as part of non-formal education for refugee education, with consideration of the potential barriers (linguistic, cultural…) and community inclusion options. Austrian researchers, as advanced in the refugee inclusion practices, can offer valuable experience and knowledge in order to access best expertise of inclusive education that can provide valuable input for policy proposals addressed to policy-makers in North Macedonia.

| Methode | Project activities include:
- Study visits betwwen partner institutions in order to collect data and exchange practices
- Identifying and collecting relevant data from legislation, scientific research, international and national projects
- Evaluation of national strategies and policies on refugees in both Austria and North Macedonia
- Academic publications, recommendations for policy papers
- Participatory events such as panel discussion with stakeholders
- Establishing a network of academicians, NGOs, practitioners and policymakers that can serve as a base for future partnerships regarding refugee rights
- Exploring the possibilities for curriculum adaptation of "Public policy" at the higher education institutions.

| Ergebnisse | The expected outputs of the project are public policy proposals addressed to the respective Macedonian authorities (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and Members of Parliament) in order to increase the awareness of the policy actors regarding creating policy for the advancement of educational rights of refugees in North Macedonia; and establishing a network of academicians, NGOs, practitioners and policymakers from Austria and North Macedonia regarding refugee rights. |
