Abstrakt | The project aims at analysing the international dataset of the European Values Study (EVS) 2017 – 2020 with a focus on political values and their relationship to religion from empirical as well as theoretical perspectives, i.e. sociology, political and cultural studies, philosophy, ethics, theology and law. Value fields like sustainability and ecological values, media, digitisation are also discussed as well as the issue of the formation and education of values. The analyses especially focus the comparison of Eastern and Western European countries as well as special sociodemographic groups such as the cosmopolitan milieu, socio-culturally marginalized classes and migrants. Through interdisciplinary research on empirical and theoretical concepts and frameworks on the nexus of values, politics and religion central conflict lines on these issues are identified and developed further. The analyses result in creating normative as well as practical future perspectives for society, politics and religious institutions to strengthen the solidarity of European citizens with the values of the European Union such as democracy, plurality and the rule of law. Methode | 3international group of renowned scholars from various disciplines will be responsible for the research and will discuss, reflect and link its research findings at a two-day international workshop at the University of Vienna. The results will be published as an English open-source anthology in a recognised international publishing house (Springer) including peer review procedures. Thereby we ensure academic quality, international relevance, visibility and impact. A media-guided and open-space book launch at the University of Vienna with international politicians, scholars and multiplying practitioners from European countries ensures an active participation and discussion of the results as well as a fruitful dissemination among the beneficiary groups such as the international academic community, multipliers from international, national and local politics and civil society, the media, educational institutions and religious communities. | |
